About this position
Uppsala University is inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher in materials theory in Sweden. The position is based in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, within the Division of Materials Theory, and focuses on solid-state theory, magnetism, electronic structures, topological phases, correlation phenomena, and materials relevant to green energy.
The postdoc will work in a larger theoretical research environment developing and applying methods for simulating magnetism, especially atomistic and multiscale simulations. The successful candidate will collaborate with leading experimental and theoretical groups at Uppsala University and other Swedish universities working on functional magnetic materials.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in physics or equivalent is required; the degree must be completed by the time of the employment decision. Applicants are expected to have expertise in atomistic or micromagnetic simulation methods, experience in software development and applying these methods, and strong English communication skills. Experience with GPU-based development or multiscale simulation methods is considered a merit.
Employment details: temporary full-time position for two years, starting 1 December 2026 or as agreed, with placement in Uppsala. The post is not funded by an EU research programme.
How to apply: submit the application via the Uppsala University Varbi portal by 26 October 2026. The cover letter is replaced by application questions that must be answered during submission.
