About this position
IMT Atlantique is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in machine learning / deep learning for the Autonomous Pack project, based at the Brest campus in France. The work is carried out in the Mathematical and Electrical Engineering (MEE) department and focuses on multimodal sensor data, IoT sensors, sensor fusion, and embedded deep learning for reusable industrial packaging.
The project aims to improve real-time monitoring of reusable packaging by combining accelerometer data with additional relevant sensors to better classify lifecycle events and make the models more robust in real-world conditions. The research also includes reviewing related literature, adapting methods to the GoodFloow industrial context, and working on the embeddability and robustness of the models. Scientific publication output is expected.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in machine learning, deep learning, data science, or computer science obtained less than 3 years before the hiring date; strong skills in Python, neural networks, and PyTorch; good knowledge of linear algebra and statistics; and strong analytical, synthesis, and teamwork skills.
Funding / contract: 24-month public-law fixed-term contract (renewable), with an indicative gross annual salary of 35,800 EUR depending on profile and experience. The post is on-site in Brest, Brittany, France, with partial remote work possible and standard public-sector benefits.
Deadline: 31 May 2026. Applications are submitted online via the IMT Atlantique Recruitee portal. Contact Bastien Pasdeloup for the scientific content and Mélissandre Morvan for HR questions.
