About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher – Neurostimulation for Stroke Rehabilitation at the Singapore-ETH Centre (ETH Zurich / Singapore’s NRF CREATE campus) in Singapore.

This postdoctoral opening focuses on the clinical translation of SmartVNS, an automated, movement-paired transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) system, for stroke rehabilitation. The project sits within the Future Health Technologies (FHT2) programme and aims to study how taVNS can improve upper-limb motor recovery and neuroplasticity in post-stroke subjects.

The work combines Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Neurophysiology, and patient-based clinical research. You will design and run feasibility and clinical studies across inpatient, outpatient, and home-based rehabilitation settings, validate real-time movement detection and stimulation-triggering algorithms, and evaluate taVNS alone and together with robotic rehabilitation technologies. The role also involves collecting and analysing clinical, behavioural, physiological, EEG, and TMS data, and working closely with clinicians and research partners at Nanyang Technological University and Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant field and have experience with human-subject or clinical studies, movement science, usability evaluation, study design, and biosignal analysis. Strong English communication skills, independence, scientific curiosity, and motivation to work with post-stroke patients are emphasized. Prior supervision experience is also valued.

This is a 100% fixed-term postdoctoral position for 2 years. The post mentions remuneration commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience, plus benefits such as annual leave, birthday leave, dental benefits, and comprehensive healthcare insurance coverage.

How to apply: Submit your application online only via the official portal. Include a cover letter with your motivation, a CV with two references, and university transcripts as PDFs. Email and postal applications will not be considered.
