About this position

A postdoctoral position in organic chemistry is available at the University of Liege, Belgium, within the NANOCHEM group led by Professor Anne-Sophie Duwez. This opportunity is part of the ERC Advanced Grant project ChemForce, focusing on the synthesis of molecules containing tethered bonds for study via single-molecule force spectroscopy. The research environment includes a diverse team of postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, chemists, and physicists, offering access to state-of-the-art experimental facilities and international collaborations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for synthesizing molecules relevant to the ChemForce project, collaborating closely with PhD students and contributing expertise to ongoing and new research initiatives. The position provides comprehensive training and exposure to high-level research standards, with opportunities to develop new projects within the Department of Chemistry and UR MolSys.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Organic Chemistry, demonstrate strong experience in multi-step synthesis and protocol development, and possess excellent English communication skills. Knowledge in macrocyclic chemistry is advantageous. Candidates should be resourceful, ambitious, internationally oriented, and capable of both independent and team-based work. A minimum of 1–4 years of research experience in organic chemistry is required.

The position is fully funded through the Horizon Europe ERC Advanced Grant, offering a full-time, temporary contract. Benefits include access to advanced research facilities, training, and integration into a vibrant academic community. Interested candidates should prepare a CV, publication list, names and email addresses of two referees, and a description of research accomplishments. Applications should be sent to Prof. Anne-Sophie Duwez at [email protected] by 31 May 2026.
