About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher in Psychology / Human–AI Interaction at the University of Bonn, within the Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology (b-it) and the Data Science Lab of Prof. Dr. Lucie Flek.
This position is part of the ERC-funded project LLMpathy: Human Alignment and Reasoning for Artificial Social Intelligence. The project studies how psychological traits, values, empathy, trust, and social reasoning shape interactions with large language models (LLMs) and other conversational AI systems.
The role is strongly research-oriented and interdisciplinary. The successful candidate will design and conduct psychological studies and human-AI interaction experiments, develop and evaluate measurement instruments, support longitudinal data collection, and analyze behavioral and questionnaire data using quantitative methods. Collaboration with AI researchers is a key part of the work, including evaluation of AI systems. The post also includes co-leading the project, mentoring PhD students, and contributing to international publications.
Eligibility highlights include a PhD in psychology, cognitive science, HCI, computational social science, or a related field; experience with psychological experiments or human-subject research; and strong quantitative/data-analysis skills. Experience with IRT or causal/statistical analyses is a plus. The team especially welcomes applicants with strong English writing skills, publication experience, and interest in human-AI interaction.
The appointment is full-time, fixed-term for 1 year, and paid according to TV-L EG 13. The posting mentions standard public-sector benefits such as health insurance, maternity leave, vacation allowance, and pension participation. The application deadline is 2026-07-15.
