About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher position in experimental condensed matter physics at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, in the Synthetic Quantum Materials Group / Department of Physics.

The project focuses on the growth and investigation of two-dimensional quantum materials and low-dimensional van der Waals materials using advanced experimental methods, including molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (LT-STM/STS), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The work is connected to the Academy Research Fellowship project Artificial Unconventional Superconductivity at the Atomic Scale.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative, international research environment with access to advanced thin-film growth and characterization facilities at the Nanoscience Center and related infrastructure at JYU.

Eligibility highlights: a completed PhD before the start date is required; prior experience with scanning probe techniques, cryogenic and ultra-high vacuum systems is expected; experience with MBE is preferred. Applicants must have an ORCID profile with publications publicly visible.

Funding and terms: fixed-term appointment for 2 years, starting 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary is approximately €3600–€4800/month gross, depending on qualifications and experience, plus a holiday bonus. Relocation support is available for international hires.

Application window: submit via the online application form by 26 July 2026. Required documents include a CV, motivation letter, publication list, degree certificate, and contact details for three referees. Applications sent by email are not accepted.
