Postdoctoral Researcher in Single-Molecule Biophysics for Programmable DNA Recognition and Genome Reorganization Uppsala University in Sweden

Uppsala University is advertising a postdoctoral researcher in single-molecule biophysics in the Deindl lab at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology.

The project focuses on programmable DNA recognition and genome reorganization, with an emphasis on fundamental mechanisms of molecular specificity, DNA remodeling, and cellular genome dynamics. The successful candidate will use advanced single-molecule fluorescence microscopy together with molecular biology and in vitro biochemistry. The work sits at the interface of biology, physics, and chemistry, and is aimed at answering basic research questions in genome biology using quantitative experimental approaches.

The position is hosted by the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, which includes research programmes in molecular biophysics and related areas. The Deindl laboratory describes itself as a multidisciplinary environment with expertise in biophysics, biochemistry, structural biology, and molecular biology.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD in biophysics, biochemistry, physics, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related field. The degree must be completed by the time the employment decision is made. Priority is given to candidates who received their PhD no more than three years before the application deadline, with possible extensions for documented special circumstances. Strong English proficiency, independence, collaboration skills, self-motivation, and interest in basic research are expected. Experience with fluorescence microscopy, single-molecule microscopy, protein-DNA or nucleic acid-protein complexes, genome engineering, or biochemical reconstitution is an advantage.

Funding and terms: this is a temporary full-time postdoctoral employment for two years, with the possibility of extension to three years. Salary is individually negotiated. No stipend amount is listed.
