About this position
🔬 A 2-year Postdoctoral Researcher position in Spintronic Quantum-Inspired Computing is open at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense, Denmark as part of the Villum Experiment-funded QUANTRONIC project.
The project, QUANTRONIC – Spintronic Pseudo-Qubits for Room-Temperature Quantum Computing, investigates whether engineered spintronic devices can reproduce key computational mechanisms associated with quantum systems, including superposition-like states, probability-amplitude-based interference, and entanglement-like correlations, without fragile quantum coherence or cryogenic operation.
The postdoc will work at the intersection of spintronics, magnetic devices, probabilistic computing, quantum-inspired computing, device modelling, and experimental characterization. The research includes physics-based and Verilog-A modelling, SOT-MTJ device development, device synchronization, and system-level exploration.
The position is hosted by SDU Microelectronics. Hooman Farkhani will serve as main supervisor, with Farshad Moradi as co-supervisor. The project also involves collaboration with Ricardo Ferreira and Tim Böhnert at INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory on spintronic device design and fabrication.
Eligibility highlights: experience in spintronics, MTJs/SOT-MTJs, magnetic devices, nanoscale device modelling, or experimental characterization is preferred. Experience in probabilistic or quantum-inspired computing is an advantage, but not required.
Funding and duration: 2-year postdoctoral appointment funded through the Villum Experiment QUANTRONIC project.
Location: SDU, Odense, Denmark.
Deadline: 10 November 2026, 23:59 CET/CEST.
