About this position

National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) is advertising an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Statistical Learning and Modeling within the Artificial Intelligence, Learning, and Intelligent Systems group in the Computational Science Center.

The project is cross-disciplinary and focuses on statistical learning, statistical modeling, deep learning, uncertainty quantification, and dimension reduction. The researcher will develop methods and software to characterize, model, and fuse multiple sources of information, with a particular emphasis on disruptive events and their impacts on infrastructure such as power grids. The role involves large datasets, complex interactions, extreme events, and highly non-linear phenomena.

Responsibilities include analyzing scientific data, designing algorithms, writing and engineering statistics/deep learning software, preparing technical reports, conference papers, and journal publications, presenting results at technical conferences, and participating in group meetings and seminars.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years and hold a PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Data Science. Required experience includes statistical methods development, theoretical and computational modeling, uncertainty quantification, PyTorch or similar deep learning tools, scientific datasets (simulation and observational data), Python/R programming, version control, interdisciplinary teamwork, and strong scientific communication. Preferred qualifications include collaborative project experience and independence/self-motivation.

This is a full-time postdoc based in Golden, Colorado, with a salary range of $76,600–$126,400 per year plus benefits. The posting notes that the application window is anticipated to remain open for up to 30 days and may be extended.
