About this position

Postdoctoral Research Position in Thermal Energy Storage and Heat Transfer at IMT Nord Europe

IMT Nord Europe is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for the REVEST project at CERI Energy & Environment in Douai, France. The project focuses on latent thermal energy storage using phase change materials (PCMs), with an emphasis on innovative passive heat transfer enhancement techniques, experimental validation, and numerical thermal simulation.

The research tasks include developing and finalizing a high-temperature experimental platform for thermal energy storage, conducting experiments on PCMs, validating thermal simulation models, optimizing passive heat transfer solutions, and disseminating results through scientific publications and international conferences.

This opportunity is well suited to candidates with a PhD in energy engineering, thermal engineering, fluid mechanics, or a related field. Strong expertise in heat transfer and fluid mechanics is required, along with experience in scientific instrumentation and experimental testing. Knowledge of CFD or thermal simulation tools is considered an advantage. Strong scientific writing skills and good English communication are also highlighted.

The position is a 13-month fixed-term postdoctoral contract (CDD). The post states a start date of 1 December 2026 and an application deadline of 10 September 2026. Applicants are asked to submit a detailed CV, motivation letter, and recommendation letters via the IMT Nord Europe recruitment platform.

Keywords: thermal energy storage, heat transfer, phase change materials, thermal engineering, fluid mechanics, CFD, experimental methods, numerical simulation.
