About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher opportunity at Sultan Qaboos University in the College of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, working on the project “Secure-Drop: Next-Generation Secure Autonomous Multi-Stop UAV Delivery in GNSS-Denied Environments.”
This research position focuses on UAV delivery, drones, autonomous systems, robotics, artificial intelligence, machine vision, ROS, Gazebo, optimization algorithms, task allocation, and GNSS-denied navigation. The successful candidate will develop mathematical models and algorithms for drone trajectory planning and optimization, build navigation systems for weak/no satellite-signal environments, create simulation environments, and conduct field trials.
Principal Investigator: Dr. Ahmed Al Maashri.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in a related field; experience in UAV perception, planning and control; optimization and task allocation; AI and machine vision; ROS/Gazebo; fixed-wing and/or rotary-wing UAVs; strong scientific writing and English communication; and a demonstrated publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
Appointment: Full-time, one-year contract renewable based on performance.
