About this position

Aalborg University in Denmark is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for a focused project on early-stage virtual engineering for aseptic production.

The position sits in the Research Group on Robotics and Automation at the Department of Materials and Production. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of production engineering, simulation, industrial application, and regulated pharmaceutical production. A key part of the role is to develop and demonstrate virtual engineering tools that support decision-making before a new production concept is physically built.

The research tasks include building and assessing early-stage scenarios for new production concepts, developing models and simulations, verifying data at plant-simulation level, and creating a “fast decision machine” for early decisions in aseptic production. The work is partly based at Aalborg University’s Aalborg East Campus and partly at relevant Novo Nordisk facilities, giving the postdoc a strong academic-industry interface.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD in a closely related area such as production concept development, changeable manufacturing systems, or reconfigurable manufacturing systems. Strong modelling and simulation skills, the ability to work independently, and clear English communication are important. Experience communicating scientific topics to industry and familiarity with pharmaceutical or other regulated industries is an advantage.

Employment details: full-time, fixed-term appointment for three months, with an expected start date of 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary and employment conditions follow Danish university regulations and the AC collective agreement.

How to apply: prepare the required documents (application letter, CV, diplomas, publication list, and other supporting materials) and submit them through Aalborg University’s recruitment system via the job advertisement page.
