About this position

Call for applications for a 3-year Postdoctoral Researcher position at Humboldt University of Berlin in the DEMO-AIM project, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

The project examines AI-mediated memorial interventions and their potential to strengthen democratic resilience. It is led by Heike Klüver, Macartan Humphreys, and Johannes Giesecke, and is part of the Cluster of Excellence Contestations of the Liberal Script (SCRIPTS) and the Humboldt Governance Lab.

Research areas: political science, AI governance, democratic resilience, political behaviour, survey and field experiments, causal inference, data science, and quantitative social science research.

Eligibility: applicants should hold a PhD in Political Science or a related discipline, or be close to completion before the position begins. An international publication record is expected, together with excellent quantitative and experimental methods skills. Strong English is required; German is desirable.

Funding and benefits: 3-year postdoctoral appointment with a competitive TV-L E13 salary (approximately €5,100 gross/month plus social security and health insurance), conference funding, and professional development opportunities.

Location: Berlin, Germany. Start date: 1 January 2027 (or earlier by agreement). Deadline: 15 August 2026.
