About this position
National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Tsukuba Center, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for a project on solar cell measurement and evaluation. The position is based in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, within the Renewable Energy Research Center, Solar Energy Evaluation and Standards Research Team.
The research focuses on a national project developing measurement technologies for new types of solar cells. The successful candidate will work in one of three areas: calibration technologies for new tandem reference solar cells, performance measurement technologies for new types of solar cells, or reliability evaluation technologies for new types of solar cells. The work is centered on solar cell calibration, photovoltaic performance measurement, and reliability assessment.
Eligibility highlights: a doctoral degree is required, or the candidate must be able to obtain one by the start date. The doctorate must have been earned within the past seven years, and applicants must have less than five years of employment experience in the same category. Prior experience in solar cells or photovoltaic power generation is not required, though experience in measurement/evaluation or measurement technology development related to solar cell materials, devices, or photovoltaic modules is desirable.
Funding: this is a fixed-term contract postdoctoral role with an hourly wage of 2,500–2,700 yen, depending on experience, skills, and duties. The contract may be renewed subject to performance, workload, and budget conditions, but the total employment period cannot exceed five years.
Application window: applications are accepted from 2026-07-10 to 2026-12-31, and the employer may close the search earlier if a suitable candidate is found. Selection is by document screening and interview.
