About this position

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher / Research Scientist in the Physical Science and Engineering Division to join Prof. Derya Baran’s OmegaLab. The project is centered on organic electronic materials and doped conjugated polymers, with a strong emphasis on connecting processing, microstructure, spectroscopy, and electrical performance.

The role is well suited to a researcher with a strong background in materials science or applied physics, and practical experience in thin-film processing, molecular doping, and advanced characterization. The work involves doping of conjugated polymers and other organic semiconductor thin films, thin-film fabrication and troubleshooting, and the use of techniques such as GIWAXS, Raman, FTIR, UV-vis, and electrical transport measurements.

Research themes include structure-property relationships in functional polymer materials and collaborative projects in organic electronics, energy-harvesting materials, and related device platforms. The position is in a collaborative experimental environment, making it a strong opportunity for candidates who enjoy interdisciplinary lab work and who can contribute to shared workflows and mentoring.

Eligibility highlights include a PhD or equivalent in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; strong experimental ability in organic semiconductors or polymer thin films; and good English communication skills. Experience with Python or similar tools for data analysis, visualization, and automation is considered an advantage.

The appointment is full-time and temporary at KAUST in Thuwal, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The application deadline is 1 October 2026. Applications are submitted online via Interfolio.
