Postdoctoral Researchers in Multiphysics Modelling of PVD-Functionalized Battery Electrodes at the University of Namur, Belgium.
This postdoctoral opportunity is for two researchers working on battery modelling, multiphysics simulation, and the link between PVD process, thin-film morphology, electrode microstructure, and electrochemical performance. The project aims to build a predictive workflow that can assess how PVD functionalization affects capacity, charge/discharge behaviour, rate capability, ionic and electronic transport, polarization, overpotential, energy efficiency, cycle behaviour, and degradation.
The work combines fundamental modelling, numerical simulation, and experimental validation, with an emphasis on technology transfer to industrial partners. A key research goal is to determine the right level of model complexity for PVD-functionalized electrodes without unnecessary computational cost.
Eligibility: applicants should hold a PhD in electrochemical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, battery science, computational materials science, applied physics, mechanical engineering, energy systems, computational science, or a closely related field. Strong experience in electrochemical modelling, rechargeable battery systems, porous-electrode theory, electrochemical transport phenomena, numerical modelling, multiphysics modelling, and Python/C++ scientific computing is preferred. Experience with PyBaMM, PyBattMo, COMSOL, or FEniCS is highly desirable. PVD experience is not mandatory.
