About this position
Postdoctoral Scholar opportunity at the University of California, Irvine in the Digital Learning Lab, School of Education.
This position focuses on generative AI in postsecondary writing instruction, including ethical and effective uses of AI in college writing teaching and learning. The scholar will contribute to a national study of generative AI in postsecondary writing and help develop and pilot test the PapyrusAI writing platform and instructional resources with community college partners.
Research and responsibilities include professional development, data collection and management, qualitative and quantitative analyses, mixed-methods work, natural language processing, survey/interview/observation analysis, writing and assessment data analysis, platform log data analysis, research protocol preparation, and coauthored reports, presentations, and publications. About 25% effort supports project coordination and partner collaboration.
Eligibility: applicants must hold a Ph.D. by the start date in education or a related field such as writing, learning, technology, psychology, computing, or quantitative methods. Strong experience in generative AI, writing instruction, digital learning, or educational technology is expected, along with qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods skills and the ability to work in a collaborative multi-institutional project.
Preferred experience includes experimental research, multilevel modeling, R or Python, platform data or NLP, human-centered technology development, educational partnerships, scholarly publication, externally funded research coordination, and open science interest.
Funding: full-time postdoctoral scholar appointment with salary and benefits according to UC policy; salary range is $71,491-$85,736, contingent on funding.
