About this position
Postdoctoral Scholar opportunity at Stanford University in the Sun Lab with faculty mentor Wenfei Sun.
This opening focuses on neural control of adipose tissue and systemic metabolism, with research spanning neuroscience, metabolism, adipose biology, genomics, physiology, molecular biology, and computational biology. The lab studies how molecularly defined sensory and autonomic pathways, including peripheral nervous system (PNS) circuits and dorsal root ganglia (DRG) sensory neurons, regulate adipose tissue function and whole-body metabolic states.
Projects may include single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, neural pathway mapping, in vivo and ex vivo neural activity recording, circuit perturbation, anatomical mapping, and metabolic phenotyping. The broader program integrates molecular profiling, circuit neuroscience, imaging, mouse physiology, and computational approaches to understand neuro-adipose communication.
The position is well suited to candidates with strong training in metabolism, adipose biology, neuroscience, genomics, physiology, molecular biology, computational biology, or related fields. A doctoral degree is required. Prior experience with every technique is not required; the lab emphasizes training, close mentorship, and interdisciplinary learning.
Preferred experience includes peripheral nervous system biology, autonomic circuits, interoception, thermogenesis, glucose and lipid metabolism, obesity and diabetes models, single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics, computational genomics, calcium imaging, electrophysiology, fiber photometry, viral tools, mouse genetics, chemogenetics, or optogenetics.
This is a paid postdoctoral scholar position with an expected base pay range of $79,056–$82,000. The successful candidate will receive support for publications, conference presentations, fellowship applications, and long-term career development.
To apply, email a brief cover letter, CV, and the names/contact information for 2–3 references to [email protected].
