Postdoctoral Scholar in Nonlinear Dynamics, Vibration Control, and Vibration Energy Harvesting Penn State Behrend in United States

NSF-funded postdoctoral opening at Penn State Behrend in the School of Engineering for research in nonlinear dynamics, vibration control, smart structures, and vibration energy harvesting.

The position is hosted by Professor Feng Qian and is part of a recently awarded National Science Foundation project. The successful candidate will work on fundamental and applied research involving nonlinear mechanical systems, computational modeling, experimental validation, and prototype development. The broader research direction includes emerging areas such as renewable energy systems and intelligent mechanical structures.

Preferred background: a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a closely related field. Strong experience in nonlinear dynamics, structural vibration, stochastic dynamics, computational modeling, and experimental mechanics is especially valued.

This is a research-focused postdoctoral scholar role with opportunities to publish in leading journals, present at international conferences, collaborate across Penn State and external institutions, and mentor undergraduate researchers.
