About this position
Postdoctoral Scholar opening in Ultrasound Imaging at Pennsylvania State University (University Park, Pennsylvania, United States) in the Ultrasound in Imaging and Therapy (UIT) Lab led by Dr. Mohamed Almekkawy.
The project is a recently funded five-year multidisciplinary effort focused on quantitative brain imaging and tissue characterization using advanced ultrasound technologies. The work combines ultrasound system and hardware development with signal processing, computational imaging, image reconstruction, and translational studies with clinicians at Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Responsibilities include PCB design, FPGA-based components, transmit/receive electronics, system synchronization, high-speed data acquisition, processing raw RF/channel data, developing research software, and investigating inverse-problem approaches. Experimental validation will use tissue-mimicking phantoms, ex vivo specimens, and clinical imaging studies involving human participants under approved protocols.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Medical Physics, or a closely related field by the start date. Final-stage Ph.D. candidates may apply if the degree will be completed before the appointment begins. Preferred experience includes biomedical ultrasound, computational or quantitative ultrasound, ultrasound computed tomography, and deep learning for medical imaging.
This is a full-time postdoctoral appointment with compensation and benefits according to Penn State guidelines. Applications are reviewed immediately and accepted until the position is filled.
To apply, submit a CV, cover letter, 2–3 representative peer-reviewed publications, and three professional references through Workday.
