About this position

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scientist in Real-World Evidence (RWE) Neurology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. This postdoctoral role sits within the RWE Neurology team and focuses on developing real-world evidence methods to support neuroscience clinical development and regulatory-grade decision-making.

The work combines real-world data, historical clinical trial data, clinical outcomes, biomarkers, and selected multimodal data sources. The scientist will help build practical, reusable approaches to evaluate whether artificial intelligence and machine learning outputs are robust, interpretable, and fit for purpose in clinical-development settings. Core activities include patient characterization, disease-trajectory modeling, endpoint assessment, evidence generation, and collaboration with statistics, data science, clinical development, translational science, regulatory, epidemiology, and medical affairs teams.

Research and technical keywords include biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, data science, computer science, causal inference, machine learning, biomedical informatics, neuroscience, and real-world evidence. The role involves analyzing observational databases, registries, and clinical trial data; developing statistical and ML methods; assessing robustness, bias, missingness, and reproducibility; and preparing protocols, analysis plans, datasets, figures, and technical reports.

Eligibility highlights: a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a quantitative field is required, along with strong R and/or Python skills and experience with patient-level healthcare or clinical data. Preferred experience includes real-world data sources, clinical endpoints, biomarkers, regulatory evidence workflows, sensitivity analyses, validation, and explainable AI.

Funding: this is a paid postdoctoral scientist position with an anticipated base salary range of $79,000 to $127,650, plus standard company benefits. Deadline: the posting is anticipated to close on 2026-08-15.
