About this position
RIKEN’s Research Center for Computational Science is recruiting a Researcher / Special Researcher / Research Associate for the Discrete Event Simulation Research Team in Japan. The position focuses on computational science, discrete event simulation, economic simulation, supply chain, human flow analysis, artificial intelligence, and related work using the supercomputer Fugaku.
The successful candidate will work under Team Principal Nobuyasu Ito on data analysis and simulation research for economic and social phenomena, with applications to socioeconomic challenges. The team also studies social data analysis, reproduction and prediction of social and economic activities, game theory, matching problems, and quantum information processing.
Eligibility: Ph.D. holders in a related field are eligible for Researcher/Special Researcher roles; Special Researcher may include candidates expected to obtain the Ph.D. by the appointment date. Research Associate applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent ability and should have a clear intention to pursue a Ph.D. and move to a higher position. Preferred experience includes parallel programming, large-scale simulation, large-scale data analysis, and research in economics, network science, or statistical physics.
Funding: This is a fixed-term contract position with annual salary starting from 3 million yen, plus discretionary work allowance, commuting allowance, housing allowance, and social insurance. Estimated monthly compensation at hiring is listed for each role.
Location: Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan (RIKEN Kobe campus).
