About this position

Yale University’s Dietrich Lab in the Department of Comparative Medicine is recruiting a Postgraduate Associate for a research project at the intersection of developmental neuroscience, behavioral neuroscience, brain and behavior, and metabolism. The lab is especially interested in how the infant brain senses, encodes, and responds to early-life experiences.

The position offers hands-on training in advanced neuroscience methods, including tissue clearing, confocal microscopy, neonatal viral strategies for whole-brain circuit interrogation, cellular-level mechanisms, immunofluorescence microscopy, in-situ hybridization, neonatal stereotaxic surgery, fiber photometry, ribosome profiling, qPCR, and behavioral assays. The role also includes animal colony management, genotyping, and qualitative/quantitative data analysis.

This is a full-time, in-person appointment in New Haven, Connecticut, for 12 months with the possibility of a second-year extension. The annual salary is $45,600 as of 7/1/26.

Eligibility highlights: a bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s degree is preferred but not required, and prior laboratory experience is required (including animal handling and general benchwork). Applicants should have a strong interest in neuroscience and behavior, a motivation to pursue a research-oriented career in neuroscience, and strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.

To apply, email a CV plus two short statements: one describing previous research experience and one describing interest in the lab and career goals. Applications are reviewed immediately and will remain open until the position is filled.
