The Power and Energy Research Lab (PERL) at the University of New Orleans is urgently seeking a highly motivated PhD student to start in Spring 2026. This fully funded position is open only to candidates currently residing in the U.S. The research will focus on Power Electronics (including converter topologies, design, control systems, MATLAB, PSIM, DSP, C/C++ programming) and Power Systems (low-inertia power systems, cybersecurity, deep learning, stability, transient responses, reinforcement learning).
Applicants should have a strong background in one of these areas and be able to demonstrate relevant experience through their CV and a one-page cover letter. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research group working on cutting-edge energy topics.
