Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna) is advertising an alternative position: 2 project staff members pre-doc or 1 project staff member post-doc at the Institute for Organization Design (Department of Strategy & Innovation).

The opening is centered on Strategic Management, especially Strategic Leadership and Corporate Governance, with a broader connection to organization design and organizational change. The institute highlights collaboration with international scholars and work on third-party-funded research projects.

Pre-Doc track: You will conduct independent research, write your dissertation, enroll in WU’s doctoral program, present at international conferences, teach your own course, support and co-supervise students, and contribute to institute activities. The role is designed for candidates who want to build a doctoral research profile while contributing to publications in leading journals.

Post-Doc track: You will play a central role in third-party-funded projects, co-author papers for leading peer-reviewed journals, lead research projects, mentor doctoral candidates, teach and supervise students, and help shape the institute’s research environment. The post-doc role emphasizes publication output, project leadership, and stakeholder management.

Eligibility highlights: Pre-Doc applicants need a Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration or a related field that qualifies for doctoral admission at WU, plus strong quantitative research skills (Stata/R and/or Python/R for NLP). Post-Doc applicants need an outstanding PhD in Business Administration or a related field, strong methodological training, publication potential, project management experience, and teaching experience. Excellent English is required; German is an advantage for both tracks.

Funding and contract: This is a paid employment position, not a scholarship. The minimum gross monthly salary is €2,832.08 for Pre-Doc and €5,014.30 for Post-Doc, each paid 14 times per year, with possible adjustment for prior relevant experience. The contract runs until August 31, 2030.
