The Department of Physical Sciences at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Berhampur (IISER Berhampur) is inviting applications for a Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical) position. This opportunity is part of an ICMR-sanctioned project focused on the development of hybrid wavefront sensors for ophthalmic applications, offering a unique chance to work at the intersection of fundamental optics and medical instrumentation.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Physics, Optics, Applied Optics, Biomedical Optics, or a closely related field. The project aims to advance research in wavefront sensing technologies with direct applications in ophthalmology, making it suitable for researchers interested in translational and high-impact medical science.

The position is open to both fresh PhDs and experienced researchers who are highly motivated and eager to contribute to innovative research. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team led by Assistant Professor Vyas Akondi at IISER Berhampur, India.

The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability. The remuneration is ₹56,000 per month plus 10% HRA. The position is based in Odisha, India, and is fully funded by the ICMR project.
