This is a short-term research staff opening in molecular biology within the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology at Sahlgrenska Academy. The role focuses on developing and functionally characterizing new mouse models for diabetes, with work spanning experimental design, execution, analysis, documentation, and reporting.

Research areas and methods: molecular biology, diabetes research, mouse models, xenograft models, genotyping, viral packaging, titration, transduction, human biological material, 3D cell culture/spheroids, fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, image analysis, CRISPR gene editing, FISH, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, hormone secretion assays, immunoassays, radioactive isotopes, and physiological measurements.

Eligibility highlights: a master's degree in molecular biology or a related research field; approved animal science training; documented hands-on experience with experimental mouse models including surgical procedures and xenograft work; strong experience with human biological material; practical experience with viral methods; and excellent English communication skills. Experience with advanced imaging, CRISPR, and multidisciplinary/international collaboration is considered meritorious.

Employment details: temporary appointment for 3 months at 50% of full-time. The post is a paid university staff position rather than a scholarship or studentship.
