About this position
Fundeni Clinical Institute is offering 1 Research Assistant (PhD student) position within the ROGEN Project (“Development of Genomic Research in Romania”, MySMIS 324809). The appointment is a temporary, part-time role of 84 hours/month for 27 months, based at the Center of Excellence in Translational Medicine in Bucharest, Romania.
This opportunity is aimed at a first-stage researcher with interests in medical sciences, biological sciences, and chemistry/biochemistry. The post is closely connected to modern genomic and translational research workflows, including the handling and storage of diverse biospecimens, primary 2D/3D cell culture, cell isolation, recombinant DNA techniques, PCR-based gene expression analysis, protein quantification, and interpretation of molecular biology data.
Applicants are expected to have a PhD or equivalent background in one of the listed fields and a working knowledge of laboratory methods such as blood/tissue/PBMC/organoid handling, passaging and cryopreservation, cloning and transfection/transduction, Sanger sequencing, RNA/DNA/protein isolation, Real-Time PCR, Bradford, ELISA, and Luminex assays. Applicants must hold or be eligible for a PhD or equivalent in Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or Chemistry. Required skills and knowledge include storage of biospecimens (blood, tissue, ascitic fluid, pancreatic juice, PBMCs, and cell culture-derived organoids), primary 2D/3D cell culture techniques, cell isolation, passaging, freezing and thawing, protein and DNA structure/function, recombinant DNA technology and gene expression in mammalian cells (restriction enzymes, cloning vectors, transformation, transfection, transduction), Sanger DNA sequencing, DNA/RNA/protein isolation, gene expression analysis by Real-Time PCR and semi-quantitative PCR, quantitative protein assays (Bradford, ELISA, multiplex Luminex), nucleic acid quantification by fluorimetry and spectrophotometry, and analysis of gene/protein expression data. English and Romanian are required at excellent level. Preferred research experience is 1 to 4 years.
