About this position

The Chair of Innovation Management at the University of Neuchâtel is offering a part-time (60%) Research Associate / PhD position in Innovation Management / Organization Studies. The appointment is designed for a candidate who will conduct independent research projects within the chair’s core research areas while progressing toward a PhD.

The research environment is centered on topics such as ecosystem orchestration, innovation and change, innovation and sustainability, business and regulation, regulatory territory, sustainable finance, ESG backlash, managerial and organizational cognition, organization theory, and qualitative research. The role also includes assisting with teaching activities and mentoring Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis students, as well as contributing to broader research and scholarly activities.

Applicants should have a distinguished Master’s degree in business administration or a related discipline such as psychology, sociology, or political science, earned no earlier than 2022. The post seeks candidates with demonstrated expertise in qualitative and/or quantitative empirical research methods, a strong commitment to independent research, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and comfort in a multicultural academic environment. Excellent English is required; French is considered an asset.

The position offers access to PhD-level training in research skills and theory, opportunities to participate in the international scientific community, including conferences, and involvement in high-impact research projects. The salary is competitive for a 60% appointment, with a 2026 gross annual salary of CHF 74,000 at 100% and CHF 44,400 at 60% (approximately EUR 49,000). The contract is initially for one year and renewable up to a maximum of four years.

The University of Neuchâtel is described as a highly international Swiss university with around 4,500 students and a diverse student body. The campus is located in Neuchâtel, between Geneva and Zürich, in a scenic lakeside and mountain setting. Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
