About this position
The University of Edinburgh is advertising a Research Fellow (Data Analysis) within the Centre for Medical Informatics, Usher Institute, School of Population Health Sciences. This is a full-time, fixed-term role for 12 months, available from July 2026, based in Edinburgh, United Kingdom with hybrid working.
The project is part of an exciting global collaborative initiative focused on improving maternal and foetal outcomes during childbirth using wearable sensors, continuous physiological data, and clinical event data. The successful candidate will work on the Intelligent Pregnancy Products Platform (I3P) and the IMPALA 2 trial, analysing data from 13,400 women across 30 hospitals in India, Rwanda, Nigeria, and Pakistan. The role includes developing, evaluating, and deploying generative AI methods to predict maternal and neonatal complications.
Applicants should have a good degree and higher degree in a scientific or numerate subject, or equivalent experience. Strong experience in Python or R, statistical programming, machine learning/deep learning, and handling complex information is required. Experience with applied or clinical AI methods and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with international and industry partners are important.
