About this position

Research Fellow in Evidence Synthesis at the University of Galway, based in the Centre for Health Research Methodology (CHRM) within the College of Medicine and Health.

This is a full-time fixed-term post with Evidence Synthesis Ireland, supporting research methods and evidence synthesis activity in a collaborative academic environment. The CHRM focuses on strengthening the design, conduct, reporting, and use of health research, and also hosts national initiatives including Evidence Synthesis Ireland, Cochrane Ireland, and the HRB-Trials Methodology Research Network.

The role is funded by the Health Research Board (Ireland) and the HSC Research and Development Division of the Public Health Agency (Northern Ireland) through Evidence Synthesis Ireland. The appointment is available from 1 November 2026 until 30 November 2030. Salary is on the Research Fellow scale of €67,214 to €87,743 per annum, subject to funding limitations, with pro rata pay for shorter and/or part-time contracts.

The post is aimed at suitably qualified candidates with a PhD or equivalent and relevant experience in medical sciences/medicine and evidence synthesis. The advert indicates that the full job description contains additional essential requirements and that prior equivalent experience may support placement above point 1 on the salary scale, subject to funding and appointment rules.

Applications must be submitted online via the University of Galway recruitment page. The closing date is 17:00 Irish Time on 25 September 2026, and applications received after this deadline cannot be considered. Interviews are planned to take place online on 29 October 2026.

This opportunity will appeal to researchers interested in evidence synthesis, systematic reviewing, meta-analysis, research methods, and health research decision-making within a leading Irish university and national evidence synthesis network.
