About this position

CNRS is advertising a researcher fixed-term contract at the Laboratoire des Ecoulements Géophysiques et Industriels (LEGI) in Gières, Isère, France. The position is in the MOST team (Modelling and Simulation of Turbulence) and focuses on computational fluid dynamics, numerical methods, anisotropic mesh adaptation, RANS, LES, turbulence modeling, and scientific computing within the YALES2 code.

The project aims to improve the interaction between numerical schemes and highly anisotropic meshes, with attention to discretization accuracy, pressure–velocity coupling, conservative remeshing/interpolation, mesh metric preprocessing, and the robustness of RANS solvers. The recruited researcher will analyze current limitations, develop and validate new numerical approaches, and run large-scale simulations using high-performance computing resources.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Fluid Mechanics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Scientific Computing, or a related field; strong CFD background; knowledge of RANS and/or LES; scientific programming skills; interest in advanced numerical methods and HPC. Experience in CFD method development or turbulence modeling is preferred.

Funding and conditions: 18-month full-time contract with a gross monthly salary between 3041.58€ and 4216.70€ depending on experience. The offer also mentions 44 days of annual leave/RTT, transport support, and remote-working practice.

How to apply: prepare a CV, publication list, reference contacts, and a short research statement (1–2 pages). Apply via the CNRS employment portal before 2026-10-06 23:59.
