About this position

Keio University School of Medicine, Department of Dermatology (Tokyo, Japan) is recruiting a Researcher / postdoc-equivalent contract employee for translational research in dermatology and immunology. The lab studies the pathogenesis of severe autoimmune skin diseases, including pemphigus, with the goal of developing new treatments.

The successful candidate will join a research team working with human clinical samples, cellular and molecular immunology, and disease-model mice. The main work includes FACS/flow cytometry, cell sorting, cell culture, and isolation/preparation of lymphocytes (PBMCs, etc.) from peripheral blood. Depending on experience and interests, the role may also include NGS library preparation, cDNA synthesis, quantitative PCR, and plasmid/vector preparation.

Eligibility is broad: the posting lists a bachelor's degree as the required educational background, and candidates with equivalent practical experience and skills may also be considered. The lab especially welcomes applicants with at least three years of life science research/experimental experience, and prior experience in FACS, mammalian cell culture, lymphocyte isolation, NGS, qPCR, or vector work is preferred but not mandatory. A doctoral degree or postdoctoral experience is also welcome.
