About this position

RIKEN is recruiting a Researcher / Postdoctoral Fellow equivalent for the Nutritional Response Research Team at the Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan.

The project focuses on nutrition, intestinal bacteria, fruit fly models, marmosets, lifespan, metabolism, genetics, analytical chemistry, and mass spectrometry. The team studies how nutrients and gut microbes affect physiological functions and the universal mechanisms underlying aging and healthy lifespan.

Position type: fixed-term contract, non-tenure-track. The appointment starts on April 1, 2026 or later (negotiable) and may be renewed up to March 31, 2028 depending on performance and budget.

Eligibility: applicants should hold a PhD in a related field. Candidates for the Special Researcher role may be expected to obtain the PhD by the appointment date and must have received the PhD within the last five years. Collaboration and communication skills are important; experience in metabolic analysis by mass spectrometry, protein science, genetics, or translational regulation is especially valued.

Funding: annual salary starts from 4 million yen, with discretionary work allowance, commuting allowance, housing allowance, and social insurance.

Location: RIKEN Kobe Campus East and West Area, Development and Regeneration Research Building, Kobe, Hyogo, Japan.
