I'm looking for a student to take on a fully funded PhD project entitled "Risk aware Uncrewed Aircraft for autonomous Drone-In-A-Box operations" at LivUni - School of Engineering . The aim is to develop an intelligent risk aware drone to monitor and manage, in real time, the risk posed to third parties on the ground and in the air. By autonomously managing these risks we can shift the human role from that of a remote pilot to more of air traffic control, enabling scalable Multiple Simultaneous Operations.
The driving use case for this work is in routine monitoring of Critical National Infrastructure, such as the road and rail network, along with emergency response, and there will be opportunities to work with numerous external organisations in this space.
