About this position

DTU Food (the DTU National Food Institute) is advertising a Scientific Assistant / Postdoc in Bioinformatics within the Global Capacity Building Research Group (GloCaB). The role focuses on bacterial whole-genome sequencing, bioinformatics, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), with work spanning research and international capacity-building activities.

The successful candidate will contribute to developing and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines for short- and long-read sequencing data, performing WGS analysis of bacterial isolates for AMR surveillance and genomic epidemiology, supporting genomic proficiency testing and external quality assessment, and helping deliver bioinformatics training for an international network. The position also includes data analysis, visualization, scientific reporting, and manuscript preparation.

Relevant skills include Python, R, Bash, Linux/Unix, and HPC. Experience with workflow systems such as Nextflow or Snakemake is especially useful, and experience in metagenomics and machine learning is also valued.

Location: Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark. Deadline: 27 September 2026. Start date: 1 December 2026, or by mutual agreement.

This is a research employment opportunity rather than a scholarship. Applicants interested in bacterial genomics, AMR, applied bioinformatics, and international research collaboration should review the full vacancy and apply via the linked page.
