About this position
KU Leuven is advertising a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher position in psychosocial health care in primary care within the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. The role sits in KU Leuven’s Group of Biomedical Sciences and focuses on research at the intersection of public health, primary care, mental health, and preventive/lifestyle-oriented interventions.
The successful candidate will strengthen an existing research line and help develop a broader programme on preventive health care, mental health, and lifestyle-oriented interventions. Relevant research areas include psychosocial care in primary care, prevention of mental health problems, stress/anxiety/depression management, lifestyle and behavioural interventions, early detection and follow-up of alcohol/medication/substance misuse, mental health and well-being of health care professionals, and innovative integrated care models.
Responsibilities include developing and coordinating research projects, publishing in international journals, supporting external research funding applications, collaborating with researchers inside and outside KU Leuven, contributing to scientific networks, and disseminating findings to practitioners, policymakers, and societal stakeholders. The position also includes teaching and student supervision in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Medicine, the interuniversity training programme in General Practice, and supervision of Master’s students, medical residents, and PhD candidates.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Health Sciences, Medicine, Psychology, Educational Sciences, or a related field; strong research experience in primary care or psychosocial/preventive health care; a strong publication record; experience with grant writing and project coordination is an asset; international research experience is an asset; excellent English; and good Dutch is required.
Funding and contract: full-time appointment for two years, with possible extension depending on performance and funding. The post is located in Leuven, Belgium.
