About this position

The Music Interaction and Computational Arts (MICA) Lab at the University of the West of England is recruiting two 24-month postdoctoral Research Fellows on the UKRI-funded Outside-In project.

1) Research Fellow in Algorithmic Sensing for Music
This role focuses on creating algorithms to detect nuanced musical interactions in real time using hand-worn wearable technology. Strong experience in signal processing and/or machine learning is encouraged.

2) Research Fellow in Digital Musical Instrument Design
This role involves planning and facilitating musical instrument co-design activities with disabled and non-disabled participants, and exploring methods for prototyping surfaces, objects, and mechanisms for music interaction. Experience in music, product design, HCI, and/or disability studies is encouraged.

Both positions are based in The Bridge Studios, UWE, and will work with project partners including x-io Technologies, MiMU, Drake Music, and the Pervasive Media Studio. The lab describes itself as an inclusive research group developing and evaluating novel technologies for creative expression.

This is a postdoctoral job opportunity, not a scholarship. The post does not mention a deadline or salary amount. For an informal chat, contact Tom Mitchell at [email protected] or use the role links provided.
