[TV-L E13, 75% for 3 years; gross annual salary starts from approximately 43,000 Euro.]

The University of Tübingen invites applications for two Research Officer/PhD posts in the Research Unit Comparative Public Policy at the Institute of Political Science. This is a 3-year appointment starting 1 November 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter, within an externally funded project on Measuring the Past and Assessing Future Possibilities of Welfare State Dualization supported by the DFG (German Research Foundation).

The position is based at one of Europe’s oldest universities, and the successful candidates will join a research environment focused on comparative public policy and welfare state research. The role is advertised as a German public sector post under TV-L E13 at 75% employment, with gross annual salary commensurate with experience starting from approximately 43,000 Euro.

Applicants should have excellent undergraduate and graduate training in political science, sociology, or social policy. The project seeks candidates with interest in comparative welfare state research and/or attitudinal research, strong English communication and academic writing skills, and excellent qualitative and quantitative methods skills. Additional language skills in German, Swedish, Polish, and/or Italian are considered beneficial.

The advert also highlights the importance of intercultural communication and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Disabled persons will be preferred in case of equal qualification, and the university encourages qualified women academics to apply.

To apply, candidates should prepare one PDF file containing a motivation letter, CV, copies of certificates, and a publication list or writing sample, then submit it electronically via the Apply button to [email protected]. The application deadline is 24 August 2026 at noon CEST, and interviews are scheduled for 22 September 2026.
