tenure-track Assistant Professorship
in the
Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering
for the field of
Digital Fabrication of Structures and Systems
. The position is embedded in the newly established
Center for Digital Fabrication of Structures and Systems
and is closely linked to research on
digital fabrication in construction
,
structural engineering
,
additive manufacturing
,
human-robot collaboration
, and
resource-efficient and circular construction systems
.
The role combines research, teaching, and scientific/organizational leadership. The successful candidate is expected to build an internationally visible research profile, develop an integrated approach connecting design, structural engineering, and automated fabrication, and contribute to the strategic development of the center. TU Wien is also establishing new laboratory infrastructure with advanced industrial robotics to support this research direction.
Eligibility highlights:
applicants should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related field, have a strong structural engineering background, and show research experience at the interface of digital design and automated fabrication. Teaching and supervision experience are required, along with the ability to develop internationally recognized research and collaborate across disciplines. Experience with industry partners, research project leadership, and willingness to acquire third-party funding are valued. If German is not yet sufficient, the candidate is expected to learn it soon for teaching, center management, and committee work.
Appointment details:
the position starts as a University Assistant/PostDoc with tenure-track progression. It is initially limited to six years, with a positive evaluation opening the path to Associate Professor with an unlimited contract. The expected start is
October 2026
