Postdoc Positions in NanoCT and XRD-CT for Battery Research at MAX IV / BatMAX

Two postdoctoral positions are open in the BatMAX collaboration at MAX IV, focused on battery research using advanced X-ray imaging and diffraction methods. The first role is a NanoCT postdoc hosted by Chalmers University of Technology and linked to the DanMAX beamline at MAX IV. The project aims to develop nano computed tomography into a robust, user-friendly technique for operando battery imaging, including software for experimental control, phase retrieval, reconstruction, and best practices to reduce radiation damage. The second role is an XRD-CT postdoc hosted by Lund University and also based around DanMAX. This project focuses on optimizing X-ray diffraction computed tomography scanning, hardware, scan sequencing, and reconstruction algorithms to improve spatially resolved diffraction data for battery science and other applications. Both positions are part of the BatMAX hub, a collaboration between Chalmers, Lund, Uppsala, Aarhus, and MAX IV, with strong links to the Battery Matrix. The research theme is Na-ion solid-state batteries, cross-beamline collaboration, and synchrotron-based characterization. Eligibility requires a PhD in chemistry, physics, engineering, or a closely related field, completed within the last three years in normal circumstances. Applicants should have experience with X-ray imaging/diffraction methods, programming for data analysis such as Python, and strong English communication and teamwork skills. Experience with synchrotron or neutron sources, electrochemistry, batteries, and reconstruction methods is considered a merit.
