Postdoc in Metabolomics and Lipidomics for Human Biological Fluids and Exposome Studies
University of Antwerp is recruiting a
postdoctoral researcher
in
metabolomics, lipidomics, analytical chemistry, bioinformatics, and exposome studies
at the
Toxicological Centre
, Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences.
The project focuses on implementing and refining
untargeted and targeted metabolomics/lipidomics platforms
for
human biological fluids
such as blood and urine. The work includes sample preparation, LC-QTOF-MS and GC-QTOF-MS method optimization, development and validation of LC-MS/MS and/or GC-MS/MS methods, data processing, metabolite annotation, QA/QC workflows, and possible use of 2D-LC or ion mobility. The broader goal is to detect molecular fingerprints and support clinical and exposomics applications.
The position is based at the
Toxicological Centre, University of Antwerp
, and is linked to the research of
Prof. Dr. Adrian Covaci
. The successful candidate will contribute to publications, academic service, international networking, supervision of Master and PhD students, and applications for external funding such as Marie Curie or FWO fellowships.
Eligibility highlights:
a PhD in analytical chemistry, biomedical sciences, environmental sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field; strong publication record in metabolomics/lipidomics preferred; hands-on experience with LC-HRMS and/or GC-HRMS; experience preparing biological samples for MS-based metabolomics/lipidomics; and bioinformatics/statistical analysis skills for biomarker discovery. Excellent English and full-time availability are required.
Funding:
full-time postdoctoral scholarship holder appointment for 18 months, with possible extension after positive evaluation. The scholarship is paid according to BAP postdoctoral scales and includes ecocheques, internet allowance, and commuting support.
Application deadline:
