FEUP Postdoctoral Research Grant – ERA-ARE-Ecotox2 (Ecotoxicology & Computational Chemistry)
The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) is offering a postdoctoral research grant within the ERA-ARE project, funded by the European Research Council (ERC) under Horizon Europe. The project, titled "A new ERA for Environmental Risk Assessment: Chirality as a tool towards environmentally safe pharmaceuticals," focuses on ecotoxicology and computational chemistry, specifically investigating the environmental impact and bioaccumulation of chiral antibiotics using animal models and molecular docking simulations.
The research will be conducted at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, FEUP, under the scientific supervision of Doctor Ana Rita Lado Teixeira Ribeiro, with a selection jury including Professor Adrián Manuel Tavares da Silva and other expert members. The grant offers a monthly stipend of 1901,00€, with an initial duration of 12 months starting July 2026, and is renewable up to a maximum of three years, subject to project duration and regulations. Payment is made by bank transfer.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ecotoxicology, or related fields, obtained within the last three years. The research must be conducted at a host institution different from where the PhD was awarded, and candidates must not exceed three years in this type of scholarship. Compliance with Portuguese Decree-Law no. 66/2018 is required for foreign degrees. Selection is based on academic profile, relevant R&D project participation, publications, and a motivation letter demonstrating proficiency in English and Portuguese. The process includes a curricular evaluation and interview, with minimum score requirements for award.
