Open PhD positions are available in the Materials Processing and Performance (MaPP) Lab at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The project area centers on materials science , materials processing , additive manufacturing , computational materials , materials informatics , and alloy design , with emphasis on fusion-based and solid-state (cold-spray) additive manufacturing processes. The MaPP Lab focuses on optimizing traditional materials, designing new materials, and studying processing-structure-property relationships across multiple length scales to improve performance under extreme service conditions. This is a fully funded PhD opportunity. The post indicates openings for Winter (January 2027) or Fall (September 2027) entry. Eligibility highlights: candidates must have completed a master's degree in materials/metallurgy . Preference will be given to applicants with relevant expertise in additive manufacturing, computational materials, materials informatics, and alloy design.
