The Nano-Optics and Advanced Health Sensing (NOAHS) Lab in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Baylor University is recruiting motivated researchers for funded projects in integrated photonics , optical computing , and biophotonics . Postdoc opening: The postdoctoral role focuses on photonic integrated circuits (PICs) , including hybrid silicon–conductive oxide device design, foundry tape-out, multi-project wafer shuttle runs, and high-speed optoelectronic characterization using VNAs and DCAs. The position also involves mentoring graduate students, collaborating with academic and industrial partners, and publishing journal articles and conference papers. The appointment is renewable annually depending on performance and continued funding. PhD openings: Two fully supported GRA positions are available. Track A centers on integrated photonics and optical computing , with work on low-voltage, high-speed silicon microring modulators driven by transparent conductive oxides and their use in ultra-low-energy optical computing platforms. Track B focuses on biophotonics and AI-driven biosensing , including biological photonic crystal materials, biomaterial preparation, surface functionalization, immunoassays, and machine-learning-based signal analysis.
