Fully Funded PhD in Generative AI and Higher Education; Postdoc in AI Process Optimisation and 3D Computer Vision at Trinity College Dublin

Trinity College Dublin’s School of Computer Science and Statistics is advertising a fully funded PhD and multiple postdoctoral research opportunities across AI, statistics, education, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and 3D computer vision. PhD opportunity: The structured PhD project, “Exploring students’ engagement with generative artificial intelligence tools in higher education,” is supervised by Dr Emma Howard and Dr Aibhín Bray in collaboration with the Trinity College Dublin School of Education. The project examines when, why, and how students use generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, and aims to produce evidence to support responsible integration of AI into teaching and learning. The studentship is funded by the Trinity Research Doctorate Award (TRDA) for four years and includes a tax-free stipend of €25,000 per annum plus EU/non-EU fees covered . Applicants with backgrounds in statistics, data science, education, or psychology are encouraged to apply. The student is expected to be resident in Ireland for the duration of the PhD. Postdoctoral opportunity 1: A postdoctoral research fellow position in process optimisation for drug manufacturing is available in collaboration with the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The project focuses on AI methods, especially Bayesian optimisation , for optimising roller compactor process parameters in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The role is under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Alessio Benavoli , Prof. Anne Marie Healy , and Assoc. Prof. Deirdre D’Arcy , with a salary up to €53,925 plus employer PRSI and pension contributions. Closing date: 30 June 2026 . Postdoctoral opportunity 2: A fully funded postdoctoral researcher position in 3D computer graphics and 3D computer vision is open in the 3D Graphics and Vision research group led by Prof. Binh-Son Hua . The project involves generative AI in the 3D domain, with expectations to publish in top venues such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, TPAMI, and IJCV. Required skills include a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, strong experience in 3D graphics/vision, deep and generative models, and strong C++/Python programming.
