PhD in Cancer Neuroscience and Translational Neuro-Oncology in Glioblastoma

PhD opportunity in Cancer Neuroscience and Translational Neuro-Oncology at Aarhus University / Aarhus University Hospital. The project, titled Disrupting neuro-tumor and tumor-tumor crosstalk in glioblastoma , is a fully financed PhD fellowship focused on the biology and pharmacology of glioblastoma . The work combines clinical trial participation with advanced laboratory research, including patient interaction, sample collection and processing, multi-omics analyses, molecular profiling, pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies, and functional studies on living tumor tissue. Research themes include neuroscience , medical science , biology , pharmacy , and translational clinical research. The project uses human material from patients in the clinical SENIPERA trial and studies investigational drugs such as senicapoc and perampanel . The candidate will work with tissue, CSF, and blood samples, contribute to biobanking and structured sample handling, and participate in data registration, GCP-related tasks, and collaboration with national and international partners. Eligibility highlights: a master’s degree in medicine, biomedicine, molecular biology, neuroscience, pharmacology, or a related field; strong interest in translational and clinical research; fluency in English; and the ability to work with human samples and patient-related research. Preferred experience includes clinical trials, Good Clinical Practice, omics technologies, REDCap, bioinformatics, and drug analysis. Funding: the position is described as a fully financed PhD fellowship , with salary and terms according to the applicable collective agreement. Application deadline: 27 May 2026 at 23:59 CET . Postdoc in translational neuro-oncology and cancer neuroscience (multi-omics, glioblastoma, bioinformatics)

Aarhus University is advertising a postdoc in translational neuro-oncology and cancer neuroscience at the Institute for Clinical Medicine , Human Cortex Lab, in close collaboration with Aarhus University Hospital and other national/international partners. The project focuses on multi-omics and functional studies of live and preserved human glioblastoma tissue, with an emphasis on cancer-neuron interactions , therapeutic vulnerabilities, and clinically relevant tumor biology. The lab uses neuronavigated tissue sampling, organotypic tissue slices, organoids, cell cultures, liquid biopsies, and advanced molecular/structural/functional assays. Analyses may include scRNA-seq , WGS/WES , methylation profiling, proteomics, spatial molecular profiling, ctDNA, extracellular vesicles, and related bioinformatics workflows. This is a 2-year full-time postdoc starting 2026-08-01 (or as soon as possible thereafter), with a possible extension. The postdoc will work on patient-derived model systems and material from patients enrolled in interventional clinical trials. The role may also involve teaching, supervision, lab coordination, database/data management, and regulatory/administrative tasks related to clinical trials. Eligibility highlights: PhD-level qualifications are required. Preferred experience includes neuro-oncology/oncology, glioma biology, cancer neuroscience, bioinformatics, liquid biopsies, DNA/RNA purification, preclinical glioblastoma models, drug screening, publication record, collaborative experience, and funding application experience. Fluent English is expected. Funding and terms: The position is salaried under Danish academic agreements. The advertised annual base salary is DKK 493,394.35 to DKK 585,322.48 plus pension, with possible supplements and a special tax scheme for international recruits.
