FEUP (Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto) is recruiting for 1 Postdoctoral Research Fellowship within the project RAICC – Responsible AI Call Center (Project nr. 25476; COMPETE2030-FEDER-03033600), co-financed by the European Union through the COMPETE 2030 Programme of Portugal 2030. The fellowship is in the scientific area of Machine Learning and is centered on the development and validation of a synthetic data generation algorithm using different approaches to improve understanding of forecasting algorithms in time series and tabular data . The planned work includes a literature review, design of two approaches for the problem, empirical evaluation of the proposed approaches, and writing two research papers. The work will be carried out at the Department of Informatics Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) , or at Fraunhofer AICOS , under the scientific supervision of Professor Carlos Manuel Milheiro de Oliveira Pinto Soares . Eligibility highlights: candidates must hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related field obtained within the three years preceding the application date. The postdoctoral research must be hosted at a different institution from the one where the PhD work was conducted. The total duration of this fellowship type, including renewals, cannot exceed three years. If the degree was awarded by a foreign university, it must comply with Portuguese recognition rules before the contract is signed. Funding: the monthly stipend ranges from €1901.00 to €2336.00 , depending on the candidate’s profile and prior experience in the project area. Payment is made by bank transfer. The initial duration is 12 months , with a predicted start in October 2026 , and may be renewed provided the project timeline allows it. Selection is based on curricular evaluation and may include an interview. The evaluation criteria consider academic background, participation in relevant R&D projects, scientific outputs (including publications and supervision), motivation letter, and English proficiency.
