Postdoctoral Position in Numerical Astrophysics

The Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (CAMK PAN) in Warsaw, Poland, is advertising a postdoctoral position in numerical astrophysics within the OPUS 30 project “The puzzle of the spins of stellar-mass black holes” (2025/59/B/ST9/01180). The project is financed by the Polish National Science Centre and is led by Prof. Andrzej Zdziarski. The successful candidate will work on the investigation of accretion flows onto spinning black holes using numerical simulations, in collaboration with Dr. Hab. Krzysztof Nalewajko and Prof. Zdziarski. This is a research-intensive role focused on high-energy astrophysics, black-hole spin physics, and computational methods in astronomy. The appointment is a full-time temporary postdoctoral position with funding available for up to 36 months. The position is based at CAMK PAN in Warszawa, Poland. Eligibility is for applicants with a PhD or equivalent in astrophysics, astronomy, or physics, or for candidates expected to obtain the degree in the year of employment in the project or within 12 years before January 1 of the employment year. Excellent English is required, and experience with numerical methods and high-energy astrophysics is preferred.
