Associate Professor/Lecturer Position in Mathematical Data Science and Information Science (Okayama University)

Okayama University is recruiting an Associate Professor or Lecturer in Mathematical Data Science / Information Science for the Discovery Program for Global Learners . The position is based in the Faculty of General and Global Studies and involves teaching in English. The successful candidate will teach data science or information science courses, along with related mathematics and statistics courses. Additional teaching opportunities may be available in general education or other undergraduate/graduate schools. The role also includes advising and mentoring undergraduate students, supervising and evaluating senior projects, serving on committees, and contributing to admissions, student recruitment, and public relations. This is a tenure-track, nontenured regular employee position with a 5-year contract and a 6-month probationary period . Salary is annualized: approximately 7–9 million yen for Associate Professor and 6–8 million yen for Lecturer, with standard benefits such as bonuses, retirement allowances, transportation expenses, and social insurance. Professional working Japanese proficiency is required, along with experience or interest in supporting students from diverse backgrounds and willingness to relocate to Okayama City or nearby after appointment.
